Zambia eSIM FAQs
No, the Zambia travel eSIM is data-only. It won’t give you a cellular voice line. If you want to call, just fire up WhatsApp, Telegram, or FaceTime using your data allowance.
Yes! Your Zambia eSIM can be installed as early as 30 days before you travel. It won’t start until you touch down in Zambia.
Installing beforehand means no setup stress on arrival, and it won’t use any data or days until you land.
If you get an activation warning on iPhone when installing before arriving, that’s normal - check our eSIM Troubleshooting Guide for details.
No - our Zambia travel eSIMs are data-only, so they don’t come with a voice line or phone number. Any calls or texts must go through internet apps like WhatsApp or Messenger.
Your eSIM will activate automatically when you arrive in Zambia. We recommend installing your Zambia Travel eSIM in advance (installation is different from activation).
Just scan the QR code you receive or install via the ZenSim app using WiFi. Once you touch down in Zambia, your eSIM will go live automatically.
If anything goes wrong, check out our eSIM Troubleshooting Guide or contact us 😊
Your Zambia eSIM will start working the moment you land in Zambia-it auto-activates if installed prior to departure.
If you install it after arrival, it will connect immediately.

Good question! Opting for a travel eSIM instead of roaming in Zambia offers clear advantages:
Lower Costs: Say goodbye to outrageous roaming bills by switching to a local travel package designed for Zambia.
Seamless Switching: Change between data plans without fumbling with physical SIM cards - perfect for spontaneous travellers.
Budget Control: Track data usage in real time and avoid surprise charges or overages.
No, your plan only starts upon landing in Zambia. Installing beforehand ensures you’re ready to go as the activation will happen automatically.
You’ll need WiFi for installation, so do it before departure and this way you will be connected as soon as you arrive.
If you run into any issues, our eSIM Troubleshooting Guide can help, or contact us directly.
Absolutely! ZenSim’s eSIMs work in over 200 countries, and Zambia is one of them. We also have regional eSIMs that cover several nations on a single plan - check out our Travel eSIMs page for details.

Yes, you can. Around 99 percent of our eSIMs allow quick and easy top ups through the ZenSim app. You can add more data, increase the days, or even include a different destination on the same eSIM right from the Zen Garden.
Open the app, go to the Zen Garden area, and you’ll see the top up button waiting for you.
Top up pricing: Zambia top up plans follow the same pricing as on the website, minus a 10% discount.
Travelling for a while: If your trip lasts more than 30 days, you can queue multiple top ups. None of them will interrupt your current plan because each one only activates when the previous eSIM expires.
Travelling to more destinations: Most eSIMs let you attach extra countries via a top up. For example, if you're heading home from Europe and stopping in Singapore, you can add Singapore to your Europe eSIM and it will switch on once you arrive.
Not exactly. Once your Zambia eSIM is active, it’s tied to that country.
If you're visiting more than one place, our regional Travel eSIMs offer broader coverage so you can roam freely across multiple destinations.
You bet there is! Once you purchase an Zambia eSIM you will be able to access your unique referral URL which you can share with your travel buds.
If they click the URL and purchase a plan they will save A$5 on their order and you will receive a A$5 voucher on your account which will be automatically applied on your next purchase (provided they are a new customer of course).
You can track your referrals and access your referral URL in the ZenSim app. Check out our terms for more info.
Only on unlimited plans, and only past 3GB in a single day - which is a generous amount, considering most travellers use less than 1GB daily.
If you do go past 3GB, your speed will be limited to 1Mbps until midnight, when it resets and you're back to full speed again.
Fixed-data plans (10GB, 20GB, etc.) don't have any daily throttling - you're free to use your data at whatever pace suits you until the plan's used up. We'll flag it before you run out, and topping up takes just a couple of taps in the ZenSim app.
Your days and data don't start counting down the second you buy the eSIM - they only kick in once you actually land in Zambia, so feel free to install it well ahead of your trip.
As long as it's already installed, it'll auto-activate the moment you arrive, and that's when the clock starts on your plan.
As for when it ends - your plan runs until either your data or your days are used up, whichever happens first (unless you're unlimited, in which case it's just the days that matter). A 30-day plan means it ends 30 days from your arrival in Zambia, not 30 days from your purchase date.
Best way to find out is with our eSIM compatibility checker - just enter your phone details and it'll confirm whether it's compatible with our Zambia eSIM and networks.
Not 100% sure, or getting an unexpected result? Contact us and we'll help sort it out. Worst case scenario, if your phone truly isn't compatible, our refund policy gives you a full refund - so there's no risk in trying.
Yep, that's precisely why we offer a 100% money back guarantee.
Whether it's a cancelled trip, an incompatible phone, or your travel plans simply shifting, you're covered either way.
You'll find the full breakdown in our refund policy, but the gist is: can't install it, can't use it, we'll refund it in full. Simple as that.
