Travel eSIMs you may like:

Hitting up the 2026 FIFA World Cup? Or perhaps you’re planning an epic transcontinental road trip across the USA, Mexico, and Canada?
Either way, you don’t want to stuff around switching SIM cards when entering each new country. The whole rigmarole takes a chunk out of your day, and border crossings are stressful enough when you’ve got to deal with TSA (ask me how I know).
The old solution was buying a pricey Global eSIM covering hundreds of countries, despite only needing three. But we came up with a better option: the North America eSIM.
WHAT IS AN ESIM?
The eSIM is a digital SIM card profile you download onto your phone. Instead of juggling tiny plastic bits and prying open miniature SIM trays, you tap a QR code and install the product within minutes.
Your eSIM will automatically activate the moment you touch down in North America, giving you a speedy, seamless connection before you hit the luggage carousel. See our eSIM compatibility checker to confirm your phone supports the tech (most do).
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AN ESIM?
Travel eSIMs are cheaper than roaming and more convenient than local plans.
Global roaming is easy. You sign up for a plan with your Aussie network and activate it before arrival. The problem is that it costs a fortune, especially when you get smashed by extortionate excess data charges. Even the “cheap” day passes some Aussie telcos offer are more expensive than eSIMs.
Physical SIMs can be cheap, but they’re a pain in the rear end. You have to queue at a shop, select a suitable plan, pry open those irritating SIM trays, swap plastic cards (don’t lose your old one), hand over your passport, and activate your plan. All this after a gruelling long-haul flight, and, at least while in Mexico, communicating in a mix of sign language and Spanish.
For tri-nation North America trips, you have to do all that THREE times – yeah mate, nah.
With an eSIM, you can compare prices online, install a product in minutes, and enjoy a seamless, hassle-free connection across the entire continent. It’s clearly the better option.
WHAT IS A NORTH AMERICA ESIM?
At the risk of insulting your intelligence, it’s an eSIM that works across North America – that means three countries: Canada, the USA, and Mexico.
Instead of purchasing three separate eSIMs, or a pricey global eSIM, you get one eSIM that covers three countries seamlessly. It’s the cheaper, more convenient way to stay connected while travelling across North America.
WILL THESE NORTH AMERICA ESIMS WORK FOR THE 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP?
You bet your booties they will. All the eSIMs in this post are available to purchase and install right now. Installing an eSIM only takes a few minutes, so it’s not too late to get connected.

ZENSIM
An up-and-coming Aussie underdog, ZenSim is taking on the eSIM giants with killer connections at cutthroat prices. For a wallet-friendly rate, we give you unlimited hotspotting, responsive support with an Australian agent, and easy top-ups through a user-friendly mobile app. Unique to ZenSim, you can add new destinations should you fancy a spur-of-the-moment Bahamas side trip.
ZenSim partners with top-tier networks to ensure the best possible speeds and has a broad range of data-capped plans catering to travellers with varying requirements. While we don’t currently offer an unlimited North America plan, punters tell us the 90GB package is sufficient. ZenSim boasts an industry-leading 4.9 / 5 stars on ProductReview.com.au.
- ZenSim North America 30-day 10GB: A$31 ($21 USD)
- ZenSim North America 30-day 20GB: A$47 ($31 USD)
- ZenSim North America 30-day 90GB: A$111 ($71 USD)
- ZenSim North America 30-day Unlimited: Not available
SIMIFY
Also based in Australia, Simify is a well-established eSIM brand with a huge range of unlimited and data-capped plans for multiple destinations, including North America. Unlike competitors, Simify offers high-data long-duration plans for visitors staying multiple months. All eSIMs include round-the-clock support, and there is a mobile app for monitoring consumption and top-ups.
The main downside to Simify is price – it’s exxy compared to many competitors, including Australian-based alternatives like ZenSim. While the unlimited plan appears to offer decent value, be mindful that Simify hides the daily use cap behind a “Fair Use” policy, meaning the local network could throttle you at any time. Nonetheless, Simify has a respectable 4.8 / 5 Trustpilot rating.
- Simify North America 30-day 10GB: A$49 ($36 USD)
- Simify North America 30-day 20GB: A$75 ($55 USD)
- Simify North America 30-day Unlimited: A$119 ($86 USD) – hidden “Fair Use” daily cap applies
SAILY
Based in Chicago, Saily forms part of Nord Security, an American tech company famous for NordVPN. As you might expect, Saily stands out in a crowded market for including a bunch of security features with its eSIM. Customers get a built-in ad-blocker, browsing protection, and a virtual location tool.
However, your regular Aussie holidaymaker might feel all this is overkill, as the extra features add to the price – Saily isn’t that cheap. Even still, the brand boasts a decent Trustpilot score of 4.7 / 5.
- Saily North America 30-day 10GB: A$62 ($44 USD)
- Saily North America 30-day 20GB: A$78 ($55 USD)
- Saily North America 30-day Unlimited: A$153 ($108 USD) – 5GB/day before throttling
AIRALO
As the world’s biggest eSIM company, Airalo has connected 20 million customers in 201+ locations worldwide, including North America. The globally minded, Singapore-based brand offers a user-friendly mobile app available in 53 languages. Customers can choose from a wide selection of packages with varying data caps and durations.
In my experience from a previous trip, Airalo didn’t have the best connection speeds, suggesting it partners with lower-tier networks. That might explain why the brand has a mediocre 4.0 / 5 Truspilot score. At least the QR code setup process was easy enough.
- Airalo North America 30-day 10GB: A$54 ($37 USD)
- Airalo North America 30-day 20GB: A$71 ($49 USD)
- Airalo North America 30-day Unlimited: A$142 ($98 USD) – 3GB/day before throttling
JETPAC GLOBAL
Another big-name Singapore brand, Jetpac Global lures customers with various travel perks. For example, the eSIM offers free lounge access for select lounges when you register your flight details in advance. You also get access to essential apps, such as WhatsApp, Uber, and Google Maps, after your data runs out, which could prove useful in a pinch. Finally, some destinations offer voice calls for US$1.99 for 5 mins – AKA, not cheap.
These perks offer limited value and may not justify the higher price tag for many travellers. On the plus side, the brand has unlimited hotspotting and a simple installation process. Note that we’re comparing lower-duration plans here (and ZenSim STILL works out cheaper), since our 10GB/20GB data caps aren’t available on their 30-day plans. Jetpac has a Trustpilot score of 4.7 / 5.
- Jetpac Global North America 7-day 10GB: A$47.5 ($30 USD)
- Jetpac Global North America 21-day 20GB: A$82 ($52 USD)
- Jetpac Global North America 30-day Unlimited: A$139 ($88.5 USD) – 3GB/day before throttling
HOLAFLY
One of the world’s best-known eSIM brands is Holafly, largely due to its broad-spanning affiliate programs. Holafly pays affiliates (bloggers, YouTubers, Influencers, etc.) a tidy commission on every referred sale, which is why you see it “recommended” all over the web. At ZenSim, we do our marketing in-house to maintain transparency.
Holafly only offers unlimited data plans. Many customers have complained about its daily use cap, which is hidden behind a “Fair Use” policy. Punters must also negotiate a restrictive 500MB-1GB/day hotspotting limit, which isn’t great for laptop users. On the plus side, Holafly lets you configure the exact number of days you need and has a decent 4.7/5 Trustpilot score.
- Holafly North America 30-day 10GB: N/A
- Holafly North America 30-day 20GB: N/A
- Holafly North America 30-day Unlimited: A$157 ($100 USD) – hidden “Fair Use” daily cap applies
WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A NORTH AMERICA ESIM?

Here’s what to consider when comparing eSIMs for your upcoming North America adventure.
COVERAGE
Does your eSIM cover Canada, the United States, and Mexico?
TRANSPARENT PRICING
Some brands sneak additional surcharges or foreign exchange fees into the final pricing page.
UNLIMITED DAILY USE CAPS
Do you know how much data you can use per day before getting throttled? Daily use caps hidden within a “Fair Use” policy aren’t ideal.
HOTSPOTTING LIMITS
Remote workers or everyday connection sharers should get an eSIM with no hotspotting restrictions.
SUPPORT
Look for an eSIM with responsive, near-round-the-clock support, ideally from a local Australian agent via an online channel (WhatsApp, etc.).
REFUND POLICY
Will you get any money back if you cancel your trip? Some providers offer generous, no-questions-asked refunds for any reason pre-departure.
CUSTOMER FEEDBACK
Customer feedback on sites like Productreview and Trustpilot provides genuine insight into how an eSIM performs on the ground.
EASY TOP UPS
Look for an eSIM with a simple, user-friendly mobile app so you can top up data or add extra days on the go. Some eSIMs even let you add on new destinations.
COST
Low-priced eSIMs give you much-needed leftover cash to spend in North America – the US and Canada are expensive enough already!
